A practical planning tool

What could thattime make possible?

Put a repeated task into perspective. Compare today’s handling time with an assumed future process, including the time a person still needs to check it.

Original studio concept: an architectural racing-inspired starting light.
What goes into the work

The experience

Make the offer clear and the next step easy to understand.

The working parts

Connect the people, information and tools around a useful task.

The handover

Leave a clear scope, practical guidance and responsibility for what follows.

Your assumptions.

Use one task and one month. Change the example values to match your situation.

Task assumptions

Include checking and exceptions.

Time, made visible

Calculate an estimate with your assumptions. No email address, account or connected data is needed.

The calculation, in the open.

Monthly hours released = tasks × the positive difference between current and future minutes ÷ 60.

For example, 100 tasks at 15 minutes now and 5 minutes afterwards model 16.7 hours per month. An assumed £25 hourly value models approximately £417 of capacity value. This does not mean that £417 will be saved or earned.

If the proposed task takes the same time or longer, the model shows no time released. Quality, reliability and customer experience may still be reasons to improve a process.
